Don't abbreviate, know the difference in invitation wording and don't just stuff and mail. Spell out everything on a wedding invitation, the first and the last names. When you input your invitation wording you should include your middle name , even if you do not like it., you spell out the state on the address line also, the only names you do not spell out is Mr. Mrs. Ms. and Jr. those are abbreviated. The wording "the honour of your presence" is always used in a formal and religious wedding ceremony that takes place in a church. When a ceremony takes place outside of a church than you should use the wording, "the pleasure of your company is requested". Use the wording that matches the formality of your event. One good word of advice though, do not follow strict etiquette rules if they will cause hurt feelings among family and friends.

Before you run to the post office and mail your invitations, let's go through the proper way to put them in the mailing envelope.  If you ordered an invitation with tissue, take the tissue and set it on top of the printed wedding text, next lay the other enclosures in ascending size on top of that. Biggest card on the bottom, and tuck them all inside the inner envelope, or if you did not receive an inner envelope tuck them inside the outer envelope.

It is advisable to have an invitation weighed at the Post Office before buying your stamps. Occasionally, invitations with lined envelopes and several enclosure cards require extra postage. Additionally, due to their shape, square invitations also require extra postage. The use of a decorative postage stamp is always a nice added touch. Your invitations should be mailed six to eight weeks before the wedding. Announcements and at-home cards are always mailed after the wedding has taken place.
